The US dollar exchange rate is one of the indexation systems allowed by the Central Bank of Chile for credit operations in domestic currency performed by banking firms. Pursuant to provisions in item No. 6, Chapter I of the Compendium of International Exchange Regulations, the Central Bank of Chile publishes daily the US dollar exchange rate as a function of transactions conducted with this currency in the formal foreign exchange market (FEM) during the previous bank working day. The Observed dollar is the weighted average price of peso-dollar exchange operations, spot or cash, performed in the FEM during the previous bank working day, and which have been reported by banks or other entities making up the FEM, as indicated in Circular N° 922 of August 14, 2013
