Monetary aggregates

M1 includes banknotes and coins in circulation deposits and other of the private sector net of float. It is constructed using data published in "Economic and social indicators of Chile 1960-2000" of the Central Bank of Chile for the period December 1965 to December 1984, and current data. Until December 1974, the original dbo_siete_fame11.SERIES were expressed in escudos, and later converted to pesos at the rate of 1 peso = 1000 escudos.

On 23 May 2006, the publication of the new dbo_siete_fame11.SERIES of monetary aggregates started. Further information is available in the dbo_siete_fame11.SERIES of Economic and Statistical Studies No. 53, May 2006.

Figures disclosed for the last three months are provisional figures and are based on daily balances reported by each financial institution.

M1 = C + D1 (D1: Deposits of the private sector, excluding bank and financial institutions, net of float)+ Dsd (Dsd: Demand deposits other than checking accounts + Demand saving deposits)

M2 = M1 + Td (Td: Time deposits of the private sector.) + Tsd (Tsd: Time savings deposits) + Mutual funds quotas in up to one-year instruments (non-financial private sector) + Deposits of savings and credit cooperatives - Mutual funds investments in M2 - Savings and credit cooperatives investments in M2.

M3 = M2 + Foreign currency deposits + Instruments of the Central Bank + Treasury bonds + Credit bills + Other mutual funds quotas + AFP (Pension fund managers) voluntary savings quotas - Mutual funds investments in M3 - AFP (Pension fund managers) investments in M3.

As a result of the incorporation of new sources of information, the M2 and M3 series published in October 2017 have been revised since January 2005 to date due to the update of the "Time Deposit (Dp)". In addition, the series of "Deposits in Current Account (D1)" and " Demand Deposits (Dv + Ahv)"
